Canary in The Pan Am
By Adam Cahoon and Jennifer Conroy
Saturday, May 6
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Theme: accessibility of arts and public culture space in urban planning and community.
Eight years after the Pan Am Games were held here in Toronto and the area was used as the athletes' village, and seven years after residents started moving in, how has the Canary district lived up to its legacy? Where are their weaknesses in public space design and public art? How have things gone in the last seven years? What are some issues that have come up? How have people in the community come together to improve it?
Walk Start Location: 434 Front Street East. You will recognize us, Adam and Jen, as we will be sitting in our power wheelchairs near the sculpture.
Walk End Location: Water guardian sculpture less than a block away.
