The Werden’s Plan Neighbourhood Heritage Conservation District encompasses part of the original plan of subdivision owned by Asa Werden in 1854. The Werden's HCD contains 250 properties, and boasts the greatest number of historic residential streetscapes in Downtown Whitby.
Almost all the buildings in the neighbourhood are single-detached houses. Erected from the mid-nineteenth century onward, the houses in the district display a wide range of well-preserved, traditional architectural styles.
