The History of Corktown’s First Movie Theatre. Meyer (also Myer) Willinsky ordered the building of Corktown’s neighborhood first purpose-built movie theater called the IDLE Hour. It opened in 1909. This video is educational and suitable for anyone interested in Toronto’s history. Produced and narrated by local historian and author, Coralina Lemos.
