DETAILS

Language: English

Area: Earlscourt

Theme: Architecture and Urban Planning, History and Community

Accessibility: Fast-paced walk, Busy sidewalks, Dog-friendly walk, Family-friendly walk

WALK DETAILS:

How a neighbourhood of modest homes connects with Oscar Wilde, the founding of Canada, the visit of a Prince of Wales and the daring of a war widow. Also a look at how neighbours helped defeat Ontario's Sunday closing laws.

  • Start of walk:  We'll meet at the north corner of Mackay and Dufferin Street, on the Mackay sidewalk of Phil's Shoe Store, 1660 Dufferin Street. That's across from the Dufferin-St. Clair West public library branch. Look for the guy with a sign.

  • End of walk: The walk will end at St. Clair West and Lansdowne Avenue.  There are east and west stops for the St. Clair streetcar there.
