Sketching Street Life at Yonge-Dundas

Liam Vu

Let's sketch one of Toronto's most infamous intersections, Yonge and Dundas! This walk allows participants to bring out their sketchbooks and art supplies to sketch and capture the area's vibrant street life, iconic destinations, controversial changes, and community stories.

This sketch walk is led by Toronto-based urban sketcher, Liam Vu (@liamvutoronto)! He is excited to guide participants to the basics of urban sketching while facilitating opportunities for participants to socialize with each other and share their personal reflections.

We'll be starting our sketch walk at Sankofa Square, where we'll provide a quick and warm welcome to the area's recent histories of name changes and upcoming developments. Afterwards, participants will sketch the surrounding areas for ~1 hour. Next, we'll head over to the TMU campus as we discover the urban design of Toronto's most downtown university and continue our sketching fun! At the very end, we'll be meeting back at Sankofa Square for a throwdown of our sketches, where we share our experiences and artistic sketches of Downtown Yonge!

In order to participate in this sketch walk, we ask participants to bring their own drawing materials (i.e. pen, sketchpad). All art skill levels are welcome! See you there!
