Sunnylea: Glimpses of the Past Hiding in Plain Sight

Pamela Gough and Peggy Smith

Discover many clues to the past hidden in the leafy streets of Sunnylea, near Royal York Road and Bloor Street. Join former TDSB Etobicoke-Lakeshore school trustee Pamela Gough and long-time resident Peggy Smith for a look at how war, floods and societal changes of the past have shaped the community we see today.

You’ll see evidence of the original forests and farmlands, visit an architectural gem of a school with a bomb shelter in the basement, and view some of the original farmhouses. Despite its placid exterior, the community of Sunnylea holds amazing stories of war, heroism, dislocation, heartbreak and triumph.
