From Streets to Shelves: Local Library History
Emily Macrae
This Jane’s Walk explores the origins and evolution the world’s busiest urban library system: from the architectural styles of landmark buildings to the changing role of technology. We’ll start outside the Lillian H Smith library near College and Spadina then end at the Toronto Reference library. Along the way we’ll find out how puppets, protests and 3D printing have shaped the city’s public library system and share stories about the role of libraries in civic life.
