The Secret Life of a 311 Service Request

Becky Katz, Nirmalan Vijeykumar, Tyler Hadley, Chris Kousinioris, Dan Mazlia

Have you ever wondered what happens after you report a broken sidewalk, a missing sign, or a pothole to 311? Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at how a service request travels through the City’s systems, from the moment a call, email, or app submission is received to the crews on the ground who make repairs and keep the city running.

Led by City of Toronto’s Transportation Services and Customer Experience (311 Toronto) staff with experience overseeing maintenance and utility work, this walk will explore the journey of a service request, the complexities of 311 data sets, and the challenges of keeping a city in good shape. Expect insights, stories, and a newfound appreciation for the invisible network that repair our city infrastructure
