Skylines, Side Streets & Hidden Spaces: North York Centre Uncovered

Claire Wang, Shan Li, Saki Wu

Join this walk to explore North York Centre - the former downtown of North York and the largest office-based employment hub outside of downtown Toronto. Experience the area’s diverse urban landscape, from wide boulevards and vibrant retail streets to quiet recreational trails and unique indoor and outdoor public spaces. Along the way, uncover hidden gems, including a heritage tree, a beloved family-run sushi spot, an underground “PATH” and multiple public arts and public accessible open spaces.

Beyond the sights, dive into the planning story of North York Centre. Learn how the 28-year-old North York Centre Secondary Plan has shaped built form and public realm of this area, discuss its challenges and opportunities, and discover how you can get involved in the ongoing North York at the Centre Planning Study!
