West Don Lands Public Art Tour 2025

Yvonne Monestier (on Friday May 2nd, 2025) and Kyla Radoja (on Saturday May 3rd, 2025)

Since 2001, Waterfront Toronto has been transforming the city's post-industrial waterfront with the backing of all three levels of government. We're reconnecting the city to the lake by transforming underused areas into vibrant communities with places to live, work, learn and play. Our goal? To create a waterfront for everyone. A key ingredient is our Public Art Program that integrates artwork throughout the waterfront's public spaces, making neighbourhoods lively and inviting for both residents and visitors.

Join us for the West Don Lands Public Art Tour, where we'll explore Waterfront Toronto's curated collection of artworks as part of our master plan for the area. The West Don Lands Public Art Master Plan was one of the first in Canada at this scale to integrate public art from the outset, with a strategy guiding the creation of a cohesive neighbourhood narrative.

On this tour, you will gain insights into the story behind the public art installations and their thoughtful integration with the neighborhood. We'll begin at the intersection of Bayview Ave and Mill St, which is beside Corkdown Common. We will first tour along Mill Street and take a look at Jill Anholt's public art bench, Peeled Pavement, from there we will stroll through Corktown Common Park, and along Front Street East, ending at Ludovic Boney's newest permanent artwork, In Equilibrium, at Cherry St and Mill St, outside the Anishnawbe Health Toronto Indigenous Hub located at the southwest plaza.

Public art enriches our city, inviting interaction and offering engaging experiences that are open and accessible to all. This tour is a perfect opportunity to explore the urban landscape together. Come and be inspired!
