Blythwood Rd. Heritage Conservation District
Alex. Grenzebach
Explore the Blythwood Road Heritage District (HCD), the only HCD in North Toronto. Learn about the background of HCDs and how they can protect an area's heritage. Blythwood Road (originally Victoria Avenue) was laid out in the 1850s and is the oldest "cross street" in the area. We will pass by several houses from the 1880s, including the Ramsay House at 129 Blythwood. A number of interesting former residents will be mentioned, including the builder of Casa Loma and the sisters who kept bees and raised chickens.
