The Making of Biidaasige Park
Danny Brown
At 20 hectares – about 50 acres – in size, Biidaasige Park is the largest park to open to the public in Toronto in over a generation. But what you might not know is that Biidaasige Park is also a critical and complex piece of climate-resilient infrastructure that is key to unlocking the first phase of the Port Lands revitalization. This tour will explore the history of the Port Lands from glaciation to waterfront revitalization, the decades of advocacy for a buried
landscape, and the recent renaturalization of the Lower Don River as part of the
broader renewal of this important place on Toronto’s waterfront.
