What's that? Why that? Exploring the 5Ws (and How?) of an east-end neighbourhood

Diane Dyson

When we walk through our neighbourhoods, the granularity of these places can provoke questions from the most mundane ones (What's that sound?) to the most profound (Who has lived here? How did they live here?). This slighlly-irreverent walk will try answer the Who, What, Where, Why, When, and How of Gerrard St. East, from Coxwell to Greenwood Ave. Questions welcome, and answers will be crowd-sourced when necessary!

Some early teasers:
Who belonged to the Eureka Club?
What is that sign with the green ear on it? (or that tall green pipe stack on the corner!?!)
Where are there three places of worship fro three major faith tucked on one residential block?
Why does Craven Rd. only have homes on one side?
When did the last of the Ashbridge family move away?
How on earth are we supposed to understand those parking signs?

Diane Dyson, a thirty-five year resident in the area, will be your walk host.
(There is one very sad part of the walk, so a warning will be given for those who need to avoid that.)
