Facadism 2: Toronto Financial District

Richard Longley

Financial District followup to Facadism 1 (Bloor, Yorkville, University), meeting at SE corner Yonge at Queen. More of the most controversial mode of architectural conservation - and some of the most imaginative, in an archipelago of architectural imagination deficit. Building new, above and behind historic facades. Preferable to demolition and total rebuild? Better for the environment, where the greenest building is the one already built? You be the judge, in the presence of some of Toronto's most interesting ancient and modern buildings.
