Parkdale Walking Tour: Sites of Resistance

Heather Spithoff and Bettina Harrison

Parkdale Walking Tour: Sites of Resistance
Presented by PARC (Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre)

This guided walking tour offers an immersive experience into the rich history of resistance and resilience in Parkdale. Participants will visit key locations where community members have organized, protested, and built alternatives in the face of displacement, gentrification, and institutional neglect. Framed through the lens of housing justice, psychiatric survivor advocacy, and anti-racism organizing, this tour sheds light on the people, places, and movements that have shaped Parkdale into one of Toronto’s most actively engaged neighbourhoods.

Whether you’re a long-time local, new to the area, or simply curious about the intersections of urban development and grassroots activism, this tour invites you to walk, witness, and reflect on the legacy of community struggle and the ongoing work ahead.
