Downtown's Shopping Emporiums

Michael Andrew Binetti

Come learn about the first stores and markets of the tiny town of York, to Toronto's first bourgeoisie shopping street (hint, it was not Yonge Street), and the grand department stores and specialty stores that have made a trip downtown special.

The tour includes discussion on famous retail landmarks including Saint Lawrence Market, Toronto's forgotten first department stores, Eaton's, Simpsons, The Hudson's Bay Company, and Sam the Record Man, and the world's most famous downtown mall.
