QUEEN’S QUAY WEST—Borders Create Photos, with PhotoMojo
Margaux Yiu
Back again! Thanks to everyone who has joined me in previous years. Once again, I’m leading groups to visit CONTACT Photo Festival exhibits. Each of my walks this weekend will focus on a different set of exhibits, so we’ll be exploring different areas downtown.
Along the way, we’ll be discussing what we see when we’re making photographs vs what we see when we’re looking at them. Last year, we focused on the mind-changing implications of how the world (in photos) is flat. This year, we’ll discuss the implications of the idea “Borders Create Photos.”
If you’ve frequently wondered why your photos don’t look like how you saw it, we’ll talk about the reasons and how to overcome them. If you’ve wondered how to take a good photo in a busy or unphotogenic scene, we’re going to practice looking for and shooting these along our walk, then review how we did.
Locations we’ll be visiting on this walk from Queen’s Quay W to Spadina include:
• Arcadia Art Gallery
• Billy Bishop Airport
• 401 Richmond
+ various parks along the way to shoot.
